I was getting sick and tired of everything earlier this rainy day. Doing the show always seems to perk me up. The army of six weird listeners is a darned swell gang of misfits.

A little burp right off the bat at the top of the show: No signal from PC3! Yoinks! Because CD2 doesn’t wanna read my home-made CDs anymore, I end up running half the show off a thumb drive through WinAmp on the host’s computer. Follow me? But nooooo… nothin’. Dead air for what feels like a good 40 minutes before I toss up another from CD1 (which is still friendly to me), then slap that thumb over to my laptop and route it into AUX1. Bingo-bango. You too can be a radio deejay.

Later I figured out that the problem was that the volume on WinAmp had been turned all the way down. Yep, I’m a professional.

WOOL is a low-power station, but has won approval from the FCC for a full-power upgrade to serve a larger community in rural southern Vermont and New Hampshire that currently has no local-origination radio programming. This is particularly important when we have local weather emergencies. Big swaths of the countryside around here don't have cable TV, and no broadcast TV reception. With no radio outlet specifically for our region, people are left in the dark when they most need information. Without meaning to be crass, the only thing between here and there is money... and there's a deadline: If we can't do the upgrade within a restricted amount of time, we're going to lose that full-power license. That would suck. Your membership in WOOL.fm will help us meet this goal. Win!

Time was there used to be links in the playlists to Amazon; the idea being that it might help cover the nominal costs of hosting the show and the website. Not doing that anymore. Total bust! Which is OK. Buying directly from the artist or supporting your locally owned music store is far preferable.

If for some wonderful reason you want to support the show directly, you can't. There isn't a mechanism. But you can contribute to general morale if you'd like; music suggestions and submissions are always welcome. Or feel free to explore this little-used wishlist at Amazon for ideas. Just sayin'.
