Matt Connors, 2/24/2016

I know just enough about Matt Connors to know that this is gonna be a totally engaging conversation. mattconnors He lives a deeply considered life off-grid with his beloved family on a land trust in Acworth. He’s into community and local food and permaculture. He runs a painting business (New Leaf Professional Painting) as much from his heart as from his brain. And he knows how to laugh.

I fear that I’m not explaining this well.

Listen in this Wednesday evening at 7:00… WOOL, 91.5 on your FM dial or streaming live from — you’ll like it, I’m pretty sure.

Kelly Broker-Campbell, 2/10/2016

We asked Kelly Broker-Campbell to come on to talk about a planned public Makerspace in Springfield at River Valley Tech. kbk Makerspace? Basically, a community center with tools where you can learn to design, prototype, and make stuff that you wouldn’t normally be able to because you don’t have the right equipment or knowledge. “Makerspaces represent the democratization of design, engineering, fabrication, and education.” (I totally stole that line.) But there’s more. Having done our usual creepy internet background investigation, it turns out that she’s a passionate educator with a strong interest in nature. Bet she has lots of interesting territory that we can get into, and I hope we do.

Also, in the second hour, I’ll be giving away a copy of Sierra Hull’s new CD, Weighted Mind, to a lucky caller. Scan_20160208_sm And it’s a signed copy, mind you, her pen to your sleeve. You know Sierra Hull: she’s that mandolin prodigy, had a band called Highway 111, played down in Putney a couple times. This her all grown up in a solo outing produced by Béla Fleck, with guest appearances from Alison Krauss, Abigail Washburn, and Rhiannon Giddens. The only catch is that the winner will need to come pick up the CD at our studio sometime. Be ready shortly after 8:00 on Wednesday night, I’ll let you know when to call 802-460-9665 extension 100.
