Halfback

Well, we’re halfway back. Drew’s still major-busy, so I’m trudging on solo. nothin I’ve been getting ready for the big Steampunk Festival coming up this weekend in Springfield and neglecting any show prep, so there’s nothin’ in particular lined up. And it’s WOOL Board Meeting night, and I’m on the board, and the meetings tend to overlap showtime, so things might get a late start. Daniel Hartigan, the Bellows Falls Farmers Market manager, said that he might stop by. And somebody else maybe too. One of those things might be the starting gun. So tune in at 7:00 and hang around.

That said, it you’re not going to the steampunk festival for some reason and are looking for a cool thing to do with the weekend, you’re in luck.

The station has two tickets to give away to the Otis Mountain Get Down festival in Elizabethtown NY this weekend, midday Friday through Sunday morning. It’s about a three-hour drive from Bellows Falls, but worth it.

One of our awesome Black Sheep Radio listeners bought a pair of tickets to this festival but now isn’t able to go. So they’re making them available to another listener – maybe you. This is the kind of thing that a good community is all about!

The Otis Mountain Get Down is an intimate, family-friendly, eclectic music festival in the heart of the Adirondacks. Their aim is to provide an experience that encourages new and meaningful interactions with art, music, the outdoors, and each other… while embracing and supporting local communities, music, and culture.

Otis Mountain is an old-time ski hill boasting tall pines, meandering rivers, little or no cell-phone service, hand-built stages, and mossy-wooded campgrounds scattered with relics of the past in the Champlain Valley. Tent camping and parking are both free. Kids under 12 are free.

Acts this year include DUSTBOWL REVIVAL, ROUGH FRANCIS, THE SUITCASE JUNKET, BELLA’S BARTOK, ALPENGLOW, and many many more. See all the info and the complete schedule online at www.otismountain.com

These tickets are normally $50 each. This is a hundred-dollar giveaway courtesy one of your neighbors here in the community.

You need to have your own transportation, tent, and an email address so we can send you the particulars.

Be listening in the 8:00 hour and I’ll tell you how to call in and win these tickets.

  1. The tickets have been scored by a lucky listener – not during Monsters & Hamsters though, but during Tim’s excellent show The Inside Out (Wednesdays 10-midnight).
