Join Drew at 7:00 tonight as he welcomes family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving, snow, and his one-year anniversary cohosting Monsters & Hamsters! (It’s been a year?! Time flies.)
Give him a call at 802-460-9665 ext 100 to congratulate him, share your favorite Thanksgiving memory or tradition, talk about what the snow’s doing where you are, or whatever. If you’re out and about on your skis, stop in at 33 Bridge St in Bellows Falls!
Sabrina and Brandy, with Miriam joining by phone, brought fun news of a developing steampunk movement up in Springfield — which has its sights set on becoming the steampunk capital of Vermont! Darned if that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, given Springfield’s fabled history of making exactly the kind of complicated, cool-looking machines and tools that steampunk celebrates. And check this out: Springfield Steampunk Festival… September 11 through 13, 2015. That website’s not even finished yet — that’s what a hot-off-the-press developing story this is. You can get in on the ground floor.
Then in the second hour, Wichita Vortex Sutra by Allen Ginsberg.
It’s a localvore threefer this week! We’ve got Jeff Levine from Pioneer Bean Company… Joe Sawyer from Sawyer’s Artisanal Cheese… and Aram Polster from Precision Valley Coffee Roasters. All at the same time. There’s no telling what’ll happen when you get three passionate local artisans of delectable consumables together, but you can bet it’ll be tasty, lively, fun, an earful, and maybe a mouthful.
Pioneer Bean Company: “Beans! We make hummus & other delightful edibles. Our schtick. Beans. Our mission is to have fun. Good Clean Healthy food is Fun. Have Fun!”
Sawyer’s Artisanal Cheese was started as an intentional effort by the Sawyer family to create a complex living food while supporting the local food system. It is made using certified organic milk from a small herd of Jersey and Normandy cows. We make our cheese on a farm that uses 100% solar powered electricity. Each wheel of cheese is handcrafted and aged for four to six months in our cheese cellar.
He’s played with Bonnie Raitt and Jerry Lee Lewis, and with NRBQ, Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and a bunch more. He toured with the legendary J.J. Cale. He played Carnegie Hall. He’s also been a builder and tuner of harmonicas – for folks like Neil Young and John Sebastian. And he lives right here in freakin’ Bellows Falls. You’ve probably seen him frequenting the farmer’s market, or having lunch at Valley Cafe, or any number of places around town… and if you didn’t know this stuff about him, you probably wouldn’t guess. Dude’s as humble as he is talented (and as funny as he is humble).
