Despite what it says on the side of their rolling restaurant (which has been getting some rave reviews), this isn't the website of the Pot Kettle Black gourmet food truck of Charleston, SC. Their website is actually www.pkbfoodtruck.com. I've been told that the company that wrapped the truck mixed up the Facebook name with the web address. However, the truck's Facebook name is "Pkb Foodtruck"... maybe they changed it to match the website, a sensible move. Whatever the case, it seems to me that whoever made that mistake is liable for fixing it. But that's not my affair.
I do feel for these food truck folks, who are trying to follow their bliss and make an honest, earnest go of it in the wretched economy that most of us are suffering under. Hence this preface letting you know where to actually find the food truck website.
They'd like to buy this domain, which seems like a reasonable enough idea; thing is, it's not an orphan site. Despite immediate appearances, there's quite a bit of activity here — though, to be fair, most of it isn't readily available to the general public. And that's without mentioning the decade-plus accumulation of my contact info all over the place citing this domain and, more important, my potkettleblack.com email addresses. I don't think they could afford to pay me enough to cover the real value.
The misunderstanding that overlooks domains having subdirectories — not all of which are directly available from the root page — also came up in a post by an online marketer who wrote, "their website which turned out to be someone's blog who's last blog post was 12/2010 saying they were done with the 'blog' thing." That marketer was citing this post, and they clearly didn't read past the first two sentences. That kind of lack of attention to details-in-plain-sight is the sort of thing that would make me think twice about hiring any ol' online marketer. Just sayin'.
I'll leave this here for a while, and I hope it helps. I also hope whoever's responsible for the error with their truck graphics owns up and does the right thing.
